What Is the Best Gym in Bel Air Area?

Vote for your favorite place to exercise.

You don't have to go far for a great workout when you live in Bel Air.

With gyms of varying sizes in the area, everyone has a favorite, so which is yours? Vote in the poll to help decide which local gym is the best in the area.

Here are some of our favorite places, but if you think someone was left out, be sure to tell us in the comments so we can add them to the list:

If your business is listed here, learn how to claim your listing .

Voting in the poll below is open until 9 a.m. Friday, and the winner will be announced at noon that day.

  • Because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on poll results, positive comments below and in reviews on each of the businesses' Patch Places directory listings (you can reach them by clicking on the businesses above).
  • Please vote only once per survey, per Patch.

Vote for your favorite gym in the poll and tell us why you voted the way you did. Do excellent service, reasonable cost or available equipment factor into your decision? Let us know in the comments.

Be sure to check back next week to vote for the best local place to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

Can anyone recommend a gym with a nice indoor or outdoor pool?
Consumer March 06, 2012 at 12:32 PM
Check out the Bel Air Athletic Club. Nice facitities.
Eugenia Hawley March 06, 2012 at 12:39 PM
Bel Air Athletic.Club Is a great family club. People of all ages get to work out. The people are friendly and informative. I have been a member for 30 years and still love it. My kids were little when we joined and now my grand kids are there enjoying the kid sports and nursery!
Jennifer March 06, 2012 at 01:19 PM
The Arena Club is by far the best club in Harford County! We joined after being members of another local club. The staff is friendly and informative. We love the water park and all the children's programming. You don't have to wait to get on the equipment and it is so clean!!! They have group fitness classes for all levels. They are always getting the latest equipment in the industry. We can't say enough good things.

My family is a member of two facilities. First for family fun and fitness including swimming, indoor and outdoor fields, daycare programs and an all around great facility Arena Club is wonderful! Second: For our serious fitness goals and the best athletic challenge of our lives we are members of Gladiator Cross Fit located in the Foerst Hill Industrial Park This Cross Fit only facility is for those athletes that want to challenge there minds and bodies and become stronger faster and more conditioned than they have ever been! Stocked with "bumper" style Olympic weights and pumping music this is how every person should have fun exercising! The owner is a long time cross fit participant and instructor who can teach elete athletes as well as people exercising for the first time both at safe and challenging levels with no awkwardness only success in exercise, diet and education!!! There is a huge area where my 2 year old and other kids of all ages can play while we workout and the environment in general will motivate anyone interested in fitness into challenging themselves like never before! If Gladiator cross fit isn't the #1 gym this year I'm certain it will be very soon Stop in for free Saturday workouts and try crossfit for yourself! My wife loves it and she has never been so fit as a result!

The Arena Club is far and away the best, and friendliest facility around. No idea what Christine is talking about in regards to mirrors above.............
April Crosby March 06, 2012 at 04:16 PM
There are not 2 way mirrors in the locker rooms and it can be proven if need be. You are wrong for throwing out ridiculous and incorrect comments.
Jeff March 06, 2012 at 04:37 PM
The Arena and BAAC are great faciilities with good people, no question, but not everyone can afford their lofty membership fees. Anytime Fitness on Agora is a great gym for the price!
Richard Smith March 06, 2012 at 06:22 PM
Christine, have you been drinking again?
Maria March 06, 2012 at 08:24 PM
this is all comments from gym employees and owners .... this is a waste and no help to anyone . unless you want to know which owner spent the most time getting thier friends to vote and write nasty comments about the other gyms......
DS March 06, 2012 at 08:40 PM
We belong to the arena club and love it there! They offer everything! However we also do crossfit at crossfit harford and must say you want a true kick butt workout this is the place to go! I believe crossfit gyms will take over someday! I have never gotten so fit and toned so fast as when I was introduced to crossfit!
Richard Smith March 06, 2012 at 10:08 PM
Cranky much?
Monica Wirth March 07, 2012 at 12:32 AM
I am a member of Gold's Gym in Bel Air. It is just about perfect if you want results. It is a spacious gym for the serious workout fanatic! Even though it has a large-quality facility it still feels like a small town gym with staff and members that motivate and know your name. The staff are all qualified with the very best training credentials for diverse population needs! I have been a loyal member for 10 years and counting. Truly the best bang for your buck! Don't rely on my advice, come check it out for yourself.
Aubrey March 07, 2012 at 09:46 AM
Exactly! Go visit these facilities, they often offer a free day pass.
Aubrey March 07, 2012 at 09:50 AM
BAAC is awesome, we've been members for 5 years and have never had any problems. The staff is helpful, the pool, shower, machines etc are clean. No two way mirrors, lol. I have heard about that from a few members. (Some have quit for that reason!) Shame on The Arena Club, just take it down.
robert March 07, 2012 at 06:12 PM
The Arena Club!
Andrew March 07, 2012 at 07:39 PM
I see another vote for cross fit! Cross fit training is amazing! Gladiator in forest hill is by far the best but I give respect to anyone pushing themselves in that discipline! Check out both cross fit facilities to see for your self which is the best!
Andrew March 07, 2012 at 07:41 PM
I say maybe the writer of this survey should do a story just about cross fit!!! That would be awesome!
Sean Hyson March 07, 2012 at 08:11 PM
BAAC! I have been a member since I was in 3 years old (I'm 25 now) hands down best staff and programs. Love it there. I have been to many of the other gums in harford county and never felt the same warmth and hospitality as I do there.
Bridget March 07, 2012 at 08:14 PM
Love the instructors at Bel Air Athletic Club, they motivate and inspire you.:)
Patrick Keller Jr. March 07, 2012 at 11:41 PM
Left out Hanley's Fitness Center in Forest Hill.
Bryan Sachs March 08, 2012 at 12:40 AM
Anytime Fitness at the Festival (near Kohls) is new, having been opened just a year this month. I am the owner and love being a business owner in Bel Air. Our members are the best! The club is upscale, clean and secure and our membership prices are one of the lower of all the gyms. If you're looking for a new gym, check us out.
John Citzen March 08, 2012 at 12:54 AM
BAAC is a good facility but untill you don't subscribe to their extra trainer services and individual lessons. Then you become hey, chief, boss or dude or whatever trendy term. Then as you watch people inproperly use equipment while the "trainers" as watching the girls with the spandex their daughter's should wear or when you have a question they are waiting for a lesson to start. Then in the summer you get moved out of your pool lane or area your working out so the day camp can use it.
Tianna March 08, 2012 at 01:00 AM
Love the Y...wish it was closer to home. Reasonably priced, clean, CLASSES that are included, child care, and friendly staff.
Liam Francis March 08, 2012 at 01:26 AM
The "YMCA" listing should be changed to the Walter & Betty Ward Family Center Y. That's the correct name. It's the only charitable, non-profit organization on the list, and it's not simply a gym but a community organization that focuses on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
Rick T March 08, 2012 at 03:19 AM
The Bel Air Athletic Club is a great facility offering a wide range of options to exercise and have fun.
eek adams March 08, 2012 at 05:33 AM
I love Golds in belair! I rejoined a year ago and love the people and facilities. They've recently updated some equipment including flat screen tvs. Challenging classes from TRX to body pump. Reasonable price.
Linda Stine Flint March 08, 2012 at 12:41 PM
Love the ARENA Club. management and staff are always friendly and helpful. facility is clean and pool is clean. they have a good variety of programs as well.
Betty Kane March 08, 2012 at 07:16 PM
Love BAAC... they have a fun and enthusiastic staff... everyone says hi and is always willing to help. The kids area far surpasses any other clubs facilities. It also provides so many extras for all ages!
