Could Bel Air Sears Be Among Up To 120 To Close?

Sears Holding Corp. announced it will close up to 120 Sears and Kmart stores.

After a poor holiday season, Sears Holding Corp. announced Tuesday it will close between 100 and 120 Sears and Kmart Stores, according an article in the Wall Street Journal online.

Sears Holding has not announced which stores will close, but is expected to post the list on its website once the company makes those decisions, according to Yahoo Finance.

"While our past practice has been to keep marginally performing stores open while we worked to improve their performance, we no longer believe that to be the appropriate action in this environment," the company said in a statement that appeared the Wall Street Journal article.

Sears has not said how many employees will be impacted, the WSJ article said.

given how Harford County natives only seem to care about how much they can spend, how much they can own, and how little they can pay in taxes, I doubt our Sears had a hard time making a killing this shopping season.

Sears is a great store, I would hate to see it close.

How much people spend and how much they own is an affront to you? Sure seems so, but the part about not wanting taxes raised...that's the part they should be ashamed of? Dang people, dang them to hell for not wanting to turn the fruits of their labor over to the government; can you imagine the selfishness? What does any of that have to do with Sears?

All I know is: As a Harford County resident the more money I can keep to myself, the better I feel.

Nothing wrong with that!!

I hope not, I buy and use Craftsman tools quite often.

I'll hate to see the store close. Although I don't shop there often, I knew they were there for particular items I was looking for. Another business bites the dust in Bel Air ... so why do we keep building new shopping centers which seem to have such a drastic effect on what is already here???

Craftsman tools are made in China these days, they are not the good, made in USA tools they once were. My older craftsman tools are MUCH nicer and more durable than the new crap.

Where am I going to buy my appliances? Sears Kenmore outlast any other brand out there. The customer service in Sears is much better than the other competitors in Bel AIr.

It's only 120 stores being closed out of what amounts to several thousands including both KMarts and Sears - seriously doubt this one closes but I might suggest if we don't want it to close we ought to shop there. The only reason to keep a store open is that it makes money - pretty simple really. I concur with Carmen in that Kenmore is a great brand. Bought the Kenmore stackable high-efficiency washer/dryer...the types people say break down, leak and smell of mildew and after more than a couple years have had no hiccups whatsoever even though my set was by far not the most expensive brand out there and the clothes come out great. I'm sold on Kenmore. Much rather shop Sears than that "other" appliance store out of Chicago. Is it me or does it feel like your being attacked by the personnel as soon as you walk through thier door and not in a good way...

it's you

Seriously doubt it Michael. I've spoken to others that have mentioned the same thing. There's a fine line between good service (Mars) and harrassment (hhgreg), but it is perceptible.

I can't see Harford Mall letting an anchor store like Sears close down. I'm sure our Bel Air Sears is safe and sound, especially since I just got a notice in my e-mail yesterday that the Bel Air Sears has put out an ad in the Aegis that they are hiring. I'd love to know how to even give me the time of DAY in hhgreg....the place where I feel like i get harassed is Staples! As far as good service...I think Home Depot has the best customer service in Bel Air!!

Still work fine for me, most still have a Lifetime warranty. I'm not a professional mechanic nor contractor.. I don't need Snap-On or Matco. Heck, I even use Harbor Freight. Point is Sears has stuff that other department stores don't.. I can't find an air compressor at Macys...

Harford Mall has no control if a tenant wants to leave when the lease runs out... what do you think happened to Montgomery Ward, Woolworth, Gap, Hutzlers... That being said I do agree I think this Sears is Ok though.

The Bel Air Sears is NOT on the initial Store closing list. When I asked a manager today, they said they were one of the better performing stores in the region.

The only Sears in MD closing is the one in Ellicott City.
