Emmorton Road Walgreens to Bring 30 Jobs

The new store will be at Plumtree Road and Maryland Route 924.

A new Bel Air Walgreens should be open by the summer, creating as many as 30 jobs, a spokeswoman for the company said.

The latest store is under construction at the intersection of East Emmorton Road and Plumtree Road. A .

Walgreens spokesperson Tiffani Washington said that although there are already some stores in the area, research conducted by the company shows there is room for one more. She did not know a specific grand opening date for the newest store.

Washington said the company evaluates factors like the amount of seniors living in a given area (), the local medical community and what competitors may already be there.

“In general what we looked for were easily accessible corner locations, ample parking,” Washington said. “We like to have entrances from both sides of the intersection, and room to accommodate a drive-thru.”

This will be the third Bel Air location, and the seventh in Harford County, including one each in Abingdon and Forest Hill. Washington said that each store typically employs about 30 people—and the company hires from within the community.
