Financial Issues Lead to Fallston Diner Closure

After a three-year run, the Fallston Diner permanently closed its doors early last week.

The  closed last week, much to the surprise of many area customers.

The business, which opened in 2008, closed on Nov. 22, according to owner John Korfiatis. Lease issues were a major factor in closing the business, he said.

“Rent will kill you," Korfiatis said.

Between 15 and 20 diner employees lost their jobs when it closed. "That was the saddest part, besides losing the money," Korfiatis said.

Manager Gina Hatzimarkos posted on the Fallston Diner Facebook page on Thanksgiving Day that the restaurant closed, "due to sudden turn of events."

“It’s because of the economy and financially we just couldn’t do it,” Hatzimarkos told Patch.

Hatzimarkos posted on Facebook that she has since joined with another person to open a new restaurant called Papa Duke's Place, located at 11244 Pulaski Highway in White Marsh.
