Unemployment continues to drop in Maryland, according to the latest U.S. Department of Labor unemployment numbers, falling to 6.1 percent in December.

The private sector created 7,000 jobs, while the public sector added 300 positions, according to theBaltimore Business Journal.

Job growth means Maryland’s unemployment rate has dropped a full percentage point, from 7.1 percent to 6.1 percent, since July 2013. And it declined from 6.4 percent in November to 6.1 percent last month, federal officials said.

The leisure and hospitality sector saw the biggest growth during the month, adding 2,900 jobs since November, the Business Journal says.

The national unemployment rate dipped below the November rate of 7 percent to 6.7 percent, according to the Department of Labor.

Ok this report is so far from the truth it is sad. The reason the Unemployment rate is down is because folks have used up their 29 weeks and are now off the books. They are still unemployed and those folks either are on welfare ( if they have kids otherwise they get no help there) or have just given up and are either living with friends or family or they are homeless. OweMalley doesn't count those folks because it messes with his numbers
