Meet Bel Air Patch's Advertising Manager

Brad Cox recently began selling Patch advertising in Harford and Baltimore counties.

Bel Air Patch is about more than just local news and information. It also provides an outlet for businesses to spread the word about their products and services. Advertising helps out business owners and workers, and also funds the hard work we do here at Patch.

Brad Cox is a dad, a musician and most recently, a Patch advertising manager covering Harford County and parts of Baltimore County. Patch spoke with him about his new role.

Patch: Why should businesses advertise on Patch?

Cox: It's affordable. We have advertising to fit just about any budget. You can target specific towns, and it's also immediate. You used to have to wait for the paper to hit your doorstep, but now it's instant.

The ad placement also lasts a lot longer than most. You can choose a week or a month—but it's not like it's only getting blasted out there once.

Patch: How long have you been in sales, and what sets you apart in your job?

Cox: I've been in sales for the past seven years in Harford County. I just like being engaged in the community. I get to know people at a personal level, and I like watching their businesses prosper.

Being in sales as long as I have brings a certain level of understanding. I know how much a restaurant can budget, for example. I don't end up selling people stuff they don't want. I was also a journalism major at Towson. I graduated in 2006 and made the lateral move into sales, but I still get the editorial side of things.

Patch: Tell us more about yourself.

Cox: I live in Bel Air, and I'm married and have a daughter. I have a cat named Roxi Starr. I'm also part of the hard rock band Skitzo Calypso.
