Readers' Choice: What's The Best Sandwich In Town?

Vote for your favorite place to get a sandwich in Bel Air.

You don't have to go far for to find a great sandwich when you live or work in Bel Air.

But which eatery is the best in the business when it comes providing a savory sandwich? Vote in the poll to help decide.

Here are some of our favorite places, but if you think someone was left out, be sure to tell us in the comments so we can add them to the list:

If your business is listed here, learn how to claim your listing .

Voting in the poll below is open until 9 a.m. Friday, and the winner will be announced at noon that day.

  • Because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on poll results, positive comments below and in reviews on each of the businesses' Patch Places directory listings (you can reach them by clicking on the businesses above).
  • Please vote only once per survey, per Patch.

(See attached .pdf document for rules)

Vote for your favorite place to grab a sandwich and be sure to tell us why. What's your menu choice? Does the service have anything to do with your patronage? Let us know in the comments and leave a review on the Patch business listing.

And remember some chains are actually locally owned franchisees.
PurpleNeons March 28, 2012 at 01:05 AM
This absolutely is a rigged vote going on here....Place is pretty empty every time I ride by, which is often. I don't like this kind of manipulation, so here is one who will never patronize Gus's.
Eric W March 28, 2012 at 02:51 AM
Vaccaro's has some really, really good sandwiches. The Ed Hale is heavenly...
Ed Jr. March 28, 2012 at 05:41 PM
Kristin, I think a better poll would be to determine how many remaining weeks Gus's will be open....
Cortney Sommer Kolakowski March 28, 2012 at 07:48 PM
I would like to manipulate you with a free colossal lump crab cake. I'll put my money where my mouth is. Best in town....maybe in Maryland. I always love a challenge . You man enough to take the challenge. Or you going to let your pride stand in the way of the best crab cake you ever ate? By the way........this is Gus
Kim Peach Woodward March 28, 2012 at 08:03 PM
@ PurpleNeons not sure when you go by there but let me tell you that place is always hopping, you must go by at there slow time. I myself love Gus's Crab Cake and it is the only place where I get my crab cakes, also the crab dip pizza is awesome also. I would take Gus up on the challenge.

Never even herd of Gus 's
Tracey Grossman March 28, 2012 at 10:58 PM
Magoos Smokehouse & Pub.They have "The Boss Hog". It weighs a pound.. Pulled pork, bacon, ham ...go to magoos facebook page they put pictures up a customer eats the whole thing!!!!!
PurpleNeons March 29, 2012 at 12:02 AM
I stick by my comments, this vote is absolutely positively manipulated. I will never step inside the business of an unscrupulous dishonest business that resorts to cheap internet manipulation as a marketing tool. Take your lousy crab cake and shove it where the sun don't shine.
PurpleNeons March 29, 2012 at 12:07 AM
Place is always empty, morning, noon and night....
Bel Air Resident March 29, 2012 at 12:37 AM
Yeah, this is a shill. What a joke. Gus's? The crappy convenience store that replaced wawa? Are you kidding me? Carried Away Gourmet, Savona, heck even the bars have better sandwiches than that place. Plus look at these posts with people being so over the top "THE STAFF IS SO FRIENDLY, IN THE HEART OF BEL AIR CAN YOU BELIEVE IT". What a joke.
Cortney Sommer Kolakowski March 29, 2012 at 02:41 AM
Wow nasty! Real Nice Dude!
Cortney Sommer Kolakowski March 29, 2012 at 02:45 AM
Very mature purpleNeons!
NikiMo March 29, 2012 at 09:16 AM
There are two, one in bel air, one is edgewood. They have great pizza and have help whenever I have a large group of kids to feed.
NikiMo March 29, 2012 at 09:18 AM
I love the crabdip pizza!!!
NikiMo March 29, 2012 at 09:19 AM
Posting a link to a consumer poll is not manipulation. You need a dictionary. There is no way to manipulate this as it goes by IP address, so unless someone from gus's went to 709 different computers to vote it cannot be manipulated. I put links to the patch on facebook all of the time. Am I manipulating my friends into clicking on the link and reading what I offer?
Andy Eisner March 29, 2012 at 12:40 PM
@purpleneons, you are a bitter person, and honestly an a!!hole. Gus Sikalis is a good man, honest and hardworking. Nothing is manipulated or dishonest, except maybe you're comments. Do everyone a favor and go eat where you want, I'm sure Gus don't need or want you're money, and we wouldn't want to have to eat our food around a nimrod like you. Notice I use my real name and don't hide behind a fictitious one. And for the record, the Sikalis family has been in the food and catering business for well over 40 years and their famous crab cake has been a favorite since the day's of the Golden Forty Rest
Jim Fredricks March 29, 2012 at 12:57 PM
NikiMo, only if you set it up that way. Somehow I don't think what Kristen had in mind was to create a flame war over a sandwich. Pretty funny though how wound up folks are... Kristen, put a fake place in your list and I'll bet I can get it 10,000 votes in a day with NO HACKING or dupilcate IP addressing. Just sayin... Oh, and everybody enjoy your lunch! :-)
Dave Y March 29, 2012 at 01:12 PM
This is why we can't have nice things.
Cortney Sommer Kolakowski March 29, 2012 at 03:13 PM
I agree! Some of us can't enjoy a friendly competition! I just want everyone to know that my father has poured his heart into everything he makes and if it sucks he wants you to let him know. He will give you your money back and do whatever possible to get you to try again. He has been in business for over 30 years now so something must be right!
Fed up March 29, 2012 at 06:37 PM
Oh and BTW you CAN vote more than once
HarCoMom March 29, 2012 at 06:56 PM
The tomato and mozz sandwich with olive oil and basil at Savona on Main St in Bel Air is delicious. Perfect, especially when paired with a can or bottle of sparkling lemon or orange Pellogrino water. So, so good.
Terry Pezzella March 29, 2012 at 07:33 PM
I'd rather have a pit beef sandwich from Fast Eddies in Fallston overall. But that's just me....
rosy scotto March 29, 2012 at 07:50 PM
Cheese steak!!! Italian sensation ...!!!
Richard Smith March 30, 2012 at 11:41 AM
Meethinks PurpleNeons is a bit of an idiot who is worried WAYYYYYYY too much about a little informal and unscientific poll on Patch.
Drewberry March 30, 2012 at 11:47 AM
wargo's is a crap hole cant believe they put it on the list
1ke March 30, 2012 at 12:39 PM
Stop and think: this strategy has made Google one of the three most profitable technology companies in the world! Such whining! I can think of a sandwich you ought to go eat.
Kirsten Dize March 30, 2012 at 03:49 PM
Drewberry, this is Readers' Choice. If I am asked to add a location, I do. That's what the voting is all about! Susie, yes, it is possible to vote more than once however Patch asks users to cast one vote per poll, per Patch.
Debbie March 30, 2012 at 04:08 PM
I know they are not in Bel Air but Hickory Station has the BEST sandwiches anywhere! Their bread is always fresh and you will not be disappointed in anything you order from them. The chicken salad is to die for! Check them out! They are located right next to Dairy Queen. Debbie
