State Casino Money Rises to $66 Million in October

Revenue rose slightly after falling off in September, .

Revenue from casinos in Maryland hit $66.38 million in October, rising slightly after a drop-off the previous month. 

While overall revenue still fell short of the all-time high of $71 million in July, revenue rose about 1.5 percent, thanks to gains in slot money from three of the state's four facilities. 

The Maryland Live! casino in Hanover reported more than $51 million in revenue in October, including $33 million from slots and $18 million from table games. 

Hollywood Casino in Perryville reported $5.8 million from slots and about $1 million from table games. 

Rocky Gap Casino pulled in $2.9 million from slots and $530,000 from table games. 

Ocean Downs casino reported $4.23 million from slots. It does not have table games. 

Casino funds in Maryland are distributed to the operators and to the state Education Trust Fund. In addition, some slots revenue goes to support local businesses and community groups. 

Here's how the money broke down for October: 

  • Casino operators: $16.2 million from slots, $16 million from table games.
  • Education Trust Fund: $22.2 million from slots, $4 million from table games. 
  • Horse Racing Purse Account: $3.1 million from slots
  • Local Impact Grants: $2.5 million from slots
  • Racetrack Renewal Account: $762,000 from slots
  • Maryland Lottery: $928,000 from slots
  • Small, Minority and Women-Owned Businesses: $674,000 from slots
