The Bike Shop of Bel Air is Moving

The bigger and better bike shop will open on Feb. 1.

For the next week, bicyclists will have to put the brakes on, if their destination was The Bike Shop of Bel Air.

The store will be closed for the week as it gets in gear at a new location.

"After two years of continued growth, our little shop is getting larger," owner Missie Wakefield posted on the shop's website.

The new store will offer 2,200 square feet of retail and service space, with 1,400 square feet for bike storage, according to Wakefield. The service center will include a customer lounge. In addition, there will be an improved fitting station. One of Wakefield's interests is in ensuring people fit on their bikes.

Stretching to fit was why the store is moving; the shop's original location in Campus Hills Shopping Center was 1,000 square feet, according to Wakefield, who said: "Our success is the result of everyone's commitment to customer service and the cycling community's support."

The Bike Shop of Bel Air will be closed from Jan. 27 to Feb. 1.

The Bike Shop of Bel Air will reopen at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, at its new spot: 2442 East Churchville Road.
