Wanted: Budding Bel Air Entrepreneurs

Bel Air Downtown Alliance is sponsoring a contest, with the prize of three months rent-free on Main Street.

The Bel Air Downtown Alliance is looking for entrepreneurs waiting for their big break.

The nonprofit's first ever "Downtown Destiny" contest is designed to give a boost to budding business owners.

To enter, applicants must submit a business plan to Bel Air Downtown Alliance by April 23, undergo a financial qualification test and pass a background check. Finalists will be interviewed by judges from Bel Air Downtown Alliance, local businesses and the Town of Bel Air.

The winning business will get to rent retail space at 17 Main St. for three months free, an estimated value of $6,000, according to the Bel Air Downtown Alliance.

The winner will also receive $2,000 toward start-up costs; business planning counseling; a think tank session from a. Bright Idea, LLC, with a focus on marketing, public relations and branding, ; assistance with retail space planning from Elegant Restoration; and free one-year memberships to the Bel Air Downtown Alliance and Harford County Chamber of Commerce.
