Tips to get through Thanksgiving without looking like a Turkey!

Thanksgiving is one of those days we both love and dread.  The food is fantastic, family time is fun, but the day is chock full with preparations and running around.  We don't want to end up looking like a turkey just because we've prepared a turkey feast.  Here are some tips from your friends at Cheveux to help you look and feel your best throughout the day.

Skin: Our aesthetician Briana offers 3 make-up tips to freshen your look on a busy, busy day like Thanksgiving:

1. Blush - Color enhances your cheekbones and gives you that luminous look.  Don't go overboard though - a light dusting is all you need.

2. Lipstick - a touch of color on your lips helps eliminate the washed out look that can come with that washed out feeling you get when you're rushing around.  Carry your favorite lipstick with you and don't be afraid to freshen up frequently.

3. Mascara - a good coat or two of mascara helps brighten your eyes and makes them pop.

Nails: Cody suggests using a shellac color during your manicure to give your nails an extra layer of protection.  Shellac is great for women who are hard on their hands - it won't chip as easily as regular nail polish.  To prevent chapping and itchiness, carry a small tube of hand lotion with you to keep your hands comfortable throughout the day.

Hair: A concensus of our stylists came up with this tip list -

1. Use a loose scrunchie to keep your hair pulled back away from your face during the preparations.  A tight ponytail will leave a crease in your hair.

2. Carry a teasing brush and a mini can of hairspray in your purse to give your hair a little lift if needed.  We've got cute stocking stuffers of hairspray on sale at Cheveux now for only $4.

3. Come in beforehand to get a deep conditioning d'Cinque treatment to give your hair added shine and silkiness.  It will make your tresses feel luxurious and decreases frizziness.

4. Consider using a dry shampoo.  It instantly absorbs impurities, excess oil and product build-up, creates volume, texture and offers UV protection.  It's a great alternative if you don't have time to wash, dry & style your hair.  Stop in and we'll help you choose the right product.

5.  As a last resort, wait to the last minute to do your hair.  Use hot rollers - be sure you are using a thermal protector on your hair before you roll.

And on the day after Thanksgiving, you can always book an appointment with one of our wonderful massage therapists to melt away the stress of the day before.  Don't forget - Cheveux is open on Sundays, too!

Here at Cheveux we are grateful for the trust you place in us for all your styling and relaxation needs.  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
