Bel Air's Sgt. Marchesani Recognized For Elite Training

Sgt. Henry Marchesani with the Bel Air Police Department participated in the FBI National Academy program.

Sgt. Henry Marchesani was recognized Monday by Bel Air officials for completing a premiere police training program and bringing his new expertise back to the town.

Marchesani began the FBI National Academy program in April and graduated Friday after 10 weeks of studying a variety of policing-related subjects including behavioral and forensic science, leadership development and understanding terrorism/terrorist mindsets, according to a release from the police department.

He also completed "grueling" fitness challenges, according to the release.

Mayor Edward Hopkins described the program as prestigious, adding that Bel Air now boasts five graduates of the program.

“Twenty of his family members showed up to his graduation,” Chief Leo Matrangola said. “We really want to thank your family.”

Marchesani is a 12-year veteran of the Bel Air Police Department currently assigned to the administrative division.

He plans to apply the 17 credits he earned through the program to a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland.
