Dead Body Found In Bel Air, Police Investigating

The cause of the man's death remained unclear as of Monday afternoon.

A 52-year-old man was found dead inside a Bel Air apartment Sunday morning, and police are investigating.

Around 8:30 a.m. someone called 911 and reported a friend was covered in blood inside an apartment in the 200 block of Baltimore Pike and had possibly killed himself, call records show. The apartment is located behind a Bel Air business between Hays Street and U.S. Route 1.

Bel Air Police officers arrived at the scene to find the body of Rodney Holmes Smith, 52, formerly of Connecticut, according to a release from the Bel Air Police Department.

Detectives and crime scene investigators with the Bel Air Police Department and the Harford County Sheriff's Office were then called to the scene to investigate, according to the release.

While the cause of death remains unclear, police are actively investigating the death, the release states.
