It's been days since Shanna Cavalera has seen her dog and she is worried sick.
"She’s really great with kids and it’s not just me that misses her, my whole entire family does," Cavalera said.
She explained Layna, a Brindle Boxer, loves to play with her sister's Beagle. On Thursday, Cavalera packed the kids into the car and headed to her sister's house, realizing at the last minute that Layna had crept into the van too.
Because it was going to be a quick stop, Cavalera let Layna come along for the ride.
When the doors to the van opened and Layna saw her friend the Beagle, the two dogs tore off into the woods.
Cavalera and her sister chased the dogs until they reached a briar patch they couldn't get through. Her sister's Beagle later returned home; Layna didn't.
Cavalera said this has happened before, and the dogs always return together or within minutes of each other. When Layna did not come back at the same time, Cavalera started to get worried.
She and her sister have walked the wooded area along Sandy Hook Road in Street every day since Layna went missing, but had found no trace of her as of Monday.
"I hope someone has her because I don’t want to think of the alternative," Cavalera said.
Layna has a black face, is spayed and up to date on rabies shots. Anyone who spots her is asked to contact Shanna Cavalera at 443-752-6654. Cavalera is offering a $150 reward to anyone helps bring Layna safely home.
