Bel Air Woman To Sing National Anthem At Oriole's Game

Stephanie Bowen, a Bel Air resident and Fallston High School graduate, is expected to sing the national anthem at the Oriole's game tonight, Aug. 7.

A hometown girl with an award-winning voice will have the chance of a lifetime tonight at Camden Yards.

Two weeks ago Stephanie Bowen of Bel Air was named the "Voice of Baltimore" winner at in Timonium. Tonight, August 7, she will claim part of her prize by singing the Star Spangled Banner at the opening of the Baltimore Oriole's game against the Seattle Mariners in Baltimore.

The 25-year-old graduate was selected from 17 finalists and more than 100 area singers as the winner. The national anthem and Whitney Houston’s "I wanna dance with somebody" were the selections that dazzled the judges July 23.

In addition to having the opportunity to sing the National Anthem at Oriole Park, Bowen received $500, 10 hours of recording time and a seven-day trip Ocean City, according to a release.

The annual singing competition raised more than $2,000 for the Ed Block Courage Award Foundation which aids abused and neglected children.
