Harford County Offering Free HIV Testing Wednesday

Maryland ranked fourth highest in 2010 for rates of HIV when compared to all other U.S. states and territories.

In recognition of National HIV Testing Day Wednesday, Harford County is offering a way to check for the disease at no cost to you.

Those interested can visit the health services division office between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. June 27.

That office is located on the top floor of 1 North Main Street in Bel Air. Testing will be offered free of charge on an anonymous, walk-in basis.

"Maryland ranked fourth among states and territories in 2010 for the rate of people living with AIDS. In addition, the Baltimore metropolitan area has the fifth highest rate of HIV infection in the nation," a county release states.

The Harford County Health Department also offers free HIV testing throughout the year by appointment. Those interested in the service and unable to take advantage Wednesday can call 410-638-3060 to schedule an appointment or get information.
