UPDATE: Man Dies After Motorized Scooter Hits Deer

UPDATE: (3:15 p.m. Saturday)—An Aberdeen man was killed after his motorized scooter hit a deer on the Bel Air Bypass Friday afternoon.

The victim has been identified as Robert Fulton Kleinhen, 68, of Aberdeen, according to a story on ExploreHarford.com.

Shortly before 11:45 a.m. Friday the Kleinhen was driving his motorized scooter northbound on the bypass when he hit a deer, according to Maryland State Police with the Bel Air Barrack.

He was taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air then flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore where he later succumbed to his injuries, according to state police.

UPDATE: (2:07 p.m.)—A moped driver was in grave condition Friday after colliding with a deer the Bel Air Bypass, according to a post on the official Harford County Md Fire & EMS PIO Media Facebook page.

Shortly before 11:45 a.m. Friday a man on a moped was involved in a collision on the Bel Air Bypass near the Emmorton Bypass, which is between Maryland Routes 24 and 147, according to the Facebook post from fire and EMS spokesman Rich Gardiner.

Maryland Sate Police Troopers at the scene confirmed a deer was also involved.

The man was taken by ambulance to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air for treatment, and from there flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, according to state police.

The Bel Air Bypass was closed to traffic for about an hour as police investigated at the scene.
