PHOTOS: Bel Air Independence Day Parade 2011

From politicians to performers on stilts, Bel Air's latest July 4th parade had plenty of great moments.

Possibly Bel Air's biggest event—the annual Independence Day parade—took more than two hours to march through Main Street on Monday.

Gov. Martin O'Malley and many local politicians, including the Bel Air Board of Commissioners, were in the procession.

Local high school bands including Bel Air itself, along with other groups, provided entertainment.

O'Malley (owe-Malley) is not a Terp so why is he wearing a Terp logo shirt? It's an affront to true Terps like me. He went to Catholic U. I skipped the parade for the 5th year in a row. Too many fire trucks and politicians. I support volunteer fire fighters, send my donation to BAVFC and I was one for 10 years. But there are just too many. Seen on you've seen 'em all. Same for politicians. Taxes rising, morality declining, school performance meandering at best and my personal pet peeve - OVERGROWTH AND TRAFFIC in Harford County! Yet they parade in front of us as if they've actually accomplished something and we're supposed to admire these out-of-touch public officials. At least the US congress recognizes their ineptitude and worked over the holiday to fix the budget mess...probably to no avail. Happy 5th of July! Back to reality.
