Power Out in Bel Air Saturday Afternoon

Nearly 3,000 customers in Bel Air lost power, according to BGE.

Thousands were without power in Bel Air for several hours Saturday afternoon, as utility crews worked to restore their service.

As of 4:15 p.m., approximately 3,000 people were without power in Bel Air, according to the BGE outage map.

"A large portion of downtown Bel Air along the Baltimore Pike corridor is without power," Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association, wrote on Facebook Saturday afternoon.

BGE said the outages were reported before 3 p.m. Saturday.

"BGE is aware and working on the situation," Gardiner said.

Equipment damage was likely what caused the outage, according to BGE, which estimated power would be restored in Bel Air by 7:30 p.m.
