Multiple People Involved in Edgewood Stabbing:…

What Kind of Bug is this in Bel Air?

Any insect experts out there?

I was leaving my apartment today and saw this bug crawling outside the door. Does anyone know how to classify this thing?

Assassin (Emesinae - Ploiaria) http://bugguide.net/node/view/213570 Perhaps, hard to tell from the photo, but the thread legs are a definite clue.

I was going to say a toss up between a water strider or a camel spider.

is it a spider I hate them, please someone confirm
Enza Lilley September 21, 2011 at 12:52 AM
My husband says it looks like a camel spider like they have over in the middle east!

Spiders have eight legs, but hey I didn't look long enough to count them.
Meghan Andrews September 21, 2011 at 12:54 AM
its a spricket (spider-criket)

I heard they kill stink bugs
Susan Redmond September 21, 2011 at 01:23 AM
I believe you are correct!

did it have antennae? could be a long horn beetle. Definitely not a spider.

I too don't think it is a spider or a spricket......there has to be a bug person out of the 3,000+ Patch fans :)

I thought it might be a Queen Stink Bug but the body doesn't look wide enough. I posted a picture above. I took this at my sister's house in PA, I thought it was a spider but my nephews told me it is a Queen Stink Bug.

HUNTSMAN SPIDERS have 6 legs

Wow! Thanks for adding your photos, Jennifer and Mary Lou. Those don't look too appetizing either. -BG

it is a Crane Fly

OMG whatever that thing is I pray it stays away from me. It looks HUGE in that picture and spider like, both qualities I am petrified of when it comes to bugs.
Wings September 21, 2011 at 04:08 PM
Ok I have seriously looked at every picture of every bug that could possibly live in or around Maryland. And that thing was no where to be found in any of them. I also saw a pic of a Queen Stink Bug and it didn't look like that at all. The body is much wider and legs shorter. Seriously if you figure out what it is I am dying to know.

Whatever it is, better off dead!

I'm feeling itchy and creeped out since I've been researching your insect on the web! I don't know what it's called, but I used to see these bugs at my grandmother's house in Howard County. They are wingless (right?), rather large (2-3 inches w/the legs), and lay really flat against the wall. It looks like a spider, but only has 6 legs. I used to see them mostly outside on the concrete walls of her house, and occasionally inside. If you find out what it is, you must tell us! :)

Your descriptions are accurate. I should have jarred the sucker. If it pops up again, it won't get away. -BG
