The Nutcracker

The Maryland School of Ballet and Modern Dance, Inc., Harford's Premier dance and Pilates studio will present The Nutcracker December 1 and 2 at Cecil College in the Milburn Stone Theatre, North East Maryland.  This year, we are pleased to bring you an entertaining newly choreographed version of this fanciful story ballet. The classic tale comes to life with the familiar musical score, but Drosselmeyer and his whimsical puppet show brings new characters to the story… At the party, Clara and her friends are entertained by these special puppet "guests" which Drosselmeyer arranges to be left behind. Under a magical spell, they come to life when Clara falls asleep after the party. Don’t worry, her Nutcracker will be there to protect her, along with her new friends, as the intimidating Rats and mischievous mice try to frighten Clara. After a long battle of Mice and Men, it ends, and a beautiful Snow Queen arrives to bring Clara’s Nutcracker back to life as her Prince. In the second act, Clara is welcomed into the "Land of Magical Nursery Rhymes". There, she will meet Little Red Riding Hood, Puss N Boots, a Mermaid, and even Little Bo Peep! Don’t let the wolf scare you; good always wins in the end! Delight in the movement of the area’s most talented youth, while being mesmerized by costuming, lights and a magnificent set specifically designed for this production at MST. Sure to please an audience of all ages, you will be humming Tchaikovsky’s memorable score all Christmas season. The Maryland School of Ballet and Modern Dance Inc. is located in Harford County Maryland and prides itself in quality pre-professional dance education for children ages 3-18. The school utilizes the students in the school for its productions, and permits them the opportunity to dance all roles without hiring special "Guest Artists" as many community productions do.
