Community Corner
Human Trafficking and Its Impact on Our Community
Harford Community College will host
a Conference for Social Workers on Thursday, March 13, 2014, from 8 to 11 AM in
the College’s Chesapeake Center Dining Rooms. The event will focus on the
victims of human trafficking and its impact on Maryland. Learn more about what
is happening along the I-95 corridor in Northeastern Maryland and how these
victims can be helped.
Join fellow social workers in a
discussion led by Jeanne Allert, Executive Director of The Samaritan Women, a
long-term restoration program for the victims of sex trafficking in the
Mid-Atlantic. Allert is a nationally-recognized speaker who established The
Maryland Rescue and Restore Coalition in 2008, a
statewide social justice initiative against human trafficking that promotes
awareness, advocacy, prevention, intervention, and restoration.
Registration
instruction can be found at www.harford.edu/cet. The cost of the event is $59 and includes breakfast. Use
