One-Woman Show Featuring Mary Ann Jung as Clara Barton at HCC
In conjunction with
National Library Week, Clara Barton, as portrayed by talented actress Mary Ann
Jung, will be making an appearance at on Monday, April 14 at 1:30 pm and 3:30
pm at the Hays-Heighe House @ Harford Community College, Room 201.
Clara Barton, a Civil
War nurse and the founder of the American Red Cross, was a woman ahead of her
time. According to Ms. Jung, she “overcame
both personal obstacles and society’s narrow view of women’s roles to pursue
her heart’s work.” Ms. Jung’s
interactive one-woman show encourages audience participation and is both
engrossing and entertaining. She has
appeared on CNN, The Today Show and Good Morning, America. In addition, Ms. Jung has performed at the
National Theatre of Washington, the Folger Shakespeare Library, Port Discovery
Children’s Museum, and the National Museum of Civil War Medicine.
Clara
Barton – Red Cross Angel is part of the 2014 National
Library Week celebration sponsored by the Harford Community College
Library. This performance is made
possible, in part, by the Maryland Humanities Council.
