CHURCH IN A MOVIE THEATER? HOW EXACTLY DOES THAT WORK?

Good question!  Churches all over the country have been switching to this church model, and good news… IT WORKS!  After visiting many church with multiple campuses and doing our homework, we feel that Restore Church is a perfect fit for theater church.  As a church, we are so excited to present Restore Church’s 1st Theater Church!  We are meeting at Abingdon’s Regal Theater at 10 AM each Sunday. The service structure will look a little like this:

1. SHOW UP: When you arrive you will be greeted at the door by people who are genuinely excited you are there.  If you are a first time visitor, be sure to stop by the VIP (very important person) orange top table & pick up some information about our church and your FREE MOVIE PASS!

2. GRAB A SEAT: If you have kids, you can check them into their classes at the fast computer check in stations and then follow the signs to the Adult Worship Service in Theater 1.  Grab some seats for you and your friends/family and settle in.

3. WORSHIP: Service will start with worship, lead (live) by a rocking band.  During worship, this is YOUR time with God, nobody is judging you.  If you don’t feel comfortable standing… Don’t stand.  If you don’t feel comfortable raising your hands…thats ok!  Everyone worships God in their own way and expresses their love in differently.  What is important is that you do what you need to worship God the best you can and that you respect that other people worship in their own way as well.

4. SERMON: Settle in & get comfortable for the sermon.  The sermon will be shown either live by Restore’s lead pastor, Jess Bousa, via video on the movie screen or an occasional Guest Teacher. Although video teaching may take a little getting used to at first, we promise that before long you will forget its a video. The sermons are recorded the evening prior, at Saturday Night Live service held at the Havre de Grace campus at 6:00pm. Typically the sermon will be given by Lead Pastor, Jess Bousa but don’t be surprised when an occasional guest speaker shows up.  Either way… it will be a great learning experience!  We also provide sermon notes in your bulletin so be sure to fill in the blanks as we dive into the Word!

5.  MAKE FRIENDS OVER COFFEE & DONUTS: Once the sermon is dismissed, pick up your kids and head on out to the theater lobby.  We will have donuts and coffee provided for you, totally free of cost… so dig in!  Friendship & community is very important to us, the Bible says that we cannot be the Christians we were created to be without other Christians.  This is a great time to strike up a conversation with someone you don’t know… or get to know someone better that you do know.  Jump on in…we won’t bite!
