Fundraiser: Help Feed A Village

FUNDRAISER:

Our daughter Ashleigh is a 2006 graduate of Fallston High School serving in the Peace Corps. Her village, Debo-Massassi, is in the Sahel, a small sandy zone between the Sahara Desert and fertile lands in Mali, West Africa. Rain falls extensively from June-September every year, but this year it did not, crippling everyone's harvest. If we do not help the 1,400 villagers, all subsistence farmers, find food soon, famine will come causing high rates of malnutrition and death. The villagers need immediate financial assistance. Ash has contacted NGO (non-governmental organizations) and food aid programs for relief. She is confident food will come eventually. In the interim she is looking for short term food relief. To feed 15 people for one month she can purchase a $45 bag of millet or a $35 bag of rice.

Buontempo Brothers located at 1 S. Main in Bel Air is sponsoring a fundraiser on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A percentage of their profits will go to assist with food aid to Debo-Massassi. Hope to see you there. Thank you for your generosity and Happy New Year.
