After a day of worries and tears from his family, Hurricane the blue pit bull is on his way to reunite with them.
On Sunday, the Johnston family left their Bel Air home to go to church.
Because it was a nice day and they knew they would be gone for some time, the family hooked their dog Hurricane up to his chain in the yard.
When they came home, the one-year-old blue pit bull was gone.
Mary Johnston contacted animal control, filed a lost pet report and posted her number and the information on the Bel Air Patch Facebook page in an effort to track down her pet.
"My kids and I have been crying since this afternoon," Johnston wrote in the Sunday Facebook post.
Because the family lives near the , Johnston had high hopes that someone in the community would spot Hurricane.
But fear and worry were transformed into relief with one call Monday morning.
“[The Harford County Humane Society] just called me about five minutes ago and told me he was found today,” Johnston told Patch around 11 a.m. Monday.
The dog and his family are expected to be reunited later today.
