Bel Air Salon Sweeps Up Ravens Cheerleaders as Clients

The Ravens selected the salon in part for its green practices.

The Ravens cheerleaders will be turning to Bel Air beauty experts to get game-ready this year.

NVS Salon & Spa in Bel Air was named the "Preferred Salon & Spa of the Baltimore Ravens Cheerleaders" for the 2014–2015 season, according to a statement from the salon.

"Choosing NVS Salon & Spa was an easy decision for us not only because they are a talented group of women who offer exceptional customer service to their clients, but they are one of the only certified green salons in the area," Gabrielle Dow, vice president of marketing for the Ravens, said in the statement.

NVS is an Aveda concept salon and spa, meaning its products are made from renewable plant-based ingredients and manufactured using wind energy; in addition, it donates cut hair for cleaning up toxic spills and practices recycling and energy conservation at its salon, according to the Maryland Green Registry.

For the Ravens cheerleaders, NVS staff will provide styling and spa services before the 10 home games, annual team photo shoot and team calendar shoot in Jamaica, the statement said.

This week, NVS staff visited the Ravens headquarters to discuss the Jamaica trip, slated for April, according to the salon.

"The Baltimore Ravens cheerleaders are well-known for being not only beautiful but strong, ambitious, smart women whose talents transcend the football field and we are excited to be working with them," Tammy Ehrbaker, owner of NVS Salon & Spa, said.

The county executive's office has taken note and offered congratulations.

“This is great news for one of our local businesses, and we are happy that the quality of services provided by one of our own has been recognized by a brand as prominent as the Baltimore Ravens," Jim Richardson, director of the Harford County Office of Economic Development, said in a prepared statement. "We love our Ravens in Harford County, and on behalf of County Executive David Craig, we offer our congratulations to NVS Salon & Spa."

In addition to being named the preferred salon for Ravens cheerleaders, NVS Salon was ranked among the Top 100 Small Businesses in America, designated a Top 200 Salon by Salon Today magazine and is the official salon for the major league lacrosse Chesapeake Bayhawk cheerleaders, according to the statement. Co-owner Stathis Kotanidis was also named Bel Air Patch's Person of the Year.

As for the Ravens, Ehrbaker said: "NVS Salon & Spa is honored to be enhancing the natural beauty of this amazing group of young women who are an integral part of the Baltimore Ravens brand and a key component of the game day experience for Ravens fans everywhere."

NVS Salon & Spa is an Aveda concept salon located at 312 N. Main Street in Bel Air.
