Kick Up Heels in Face of Sexual Violence

The "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" event, sponsored by SARC, is to be held Saturday on Main Street in Bel Air.

Saturday is a time to and for some local men, that means literally.

The walk will take place from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 14, and participants include men, women and children.

Many of the men involved opt to wear high heels in honor of the event.

For example, , executive director for , has selected fancy red stilettos for the occasion and he posted a photo of them on Twitter.

The event demonstrates the community's commitment to creating a society free from sexual violence.

"By taking part in the walk, you will be making a statement that violence against women and children is not just a women's issue, it's everybody's business and we must all work together to solve it," states the .

The event will be held on Main Street in Bel Air, and is sponsored by SARC, a non-profit agency in Harford County that offers resources for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.

SARC stands for Safety Awareness Resources Change.

Registration closed March 26, but you can still make a donation and show your support for participants and the cause, by showing up at the event.
