Stathis Kotanidis, Bel Air's Person of the Year for 2013

Kotanidis gives back through his businesses: NVS Salon and Pat's Pizzeria.

To help those in need in Bel Air, Stathis Kotanidis has given everything from food to hair, according to the person who nominated him for Bel Air's Person of the Year.

"Mr. Kotanidis is the most selfless man I know. As an owner of two Harford County businesses, he puts so much back into the community," the nomination stated.

Kotanidis co-owns NVS Salon, which held multiple cut-a-thons to provide hair for cancer patients this fall in a show of support for Upper Chesapeake and its new cancer center. He also supported Welcome One Emergency Shelter and collected toys for the Empty Stocking Fund, according to the nomination.

"In his other business, Pat's Pizzeria, he hosts breakfast with the Easter bunny as well as breakfast with Santa, complimentary for all the local children. He donates food, time and money to all the local charities and churches..." the nomination stated.

"Other than being a great community supporter, he is an incredible business man for our community," the person who nominated Kotanidis said.

NVS Salon was listed among the top 100 small businesses in 2013 by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and a top 200 salon by Salon Today magazine.

Pat's Pizzeria also received awards in multiple categories in Harford Magazine's "Taste of Harford."

The person who nominated Kotanidis summed him up this way: "He is an excellent business partner and friend."
