If you're spending New Year's Eve in Bel Air, there are options from live music and prime rib to a "big bang balloon drop." Here are five New Year's Eve parties—including one daytime event for the fam—plus a New Year's Day laugh-a-thon in case you need a pick-me-up after the big night.

Bel Air Athletic Club, 658 Boulton St., hosts the 7th Annual Noon Year’s Eve Event on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Performances, crafts, music and dancing will precede a "big bang balloon drop" at noon, according to organizers. There will be light refreshments. It's $8 per person to attend; kids ages 2 and under are free. Call 410-838-2670 (ext. 297) or email cgray@wellbridge.com to register.

Hickory Lodge, 2119 Conowingo Rd., will have chef's specials plus $2.50 draft and craft beers all night. There's no cover. A DJ will start playing at 9 p.m. As the page turns on 2013, partygoers receive free champagne and party favors.

Looney's, 312 S. Main St., is hosting a New Year's Eve gala with live music from Crushing Day and Strait Shooter plus a DJ from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Cocktail attire is required. Tickets are $15 at the door and $10 in advance. There's a prime rib menu and the regular fare, in addition to a breakfast buffet from midnight to 1 a.m. The restaurant will serve a champagne toast and party favors at midnight.

MaGerk's, 120 S. Bond St., hosts Harford County band Ballyhoo for its New Year's Eve party. Tickets are $15 in advance and $25 at the door. Admission includes drink specials, "party flair" and a midnight toast, according to organizers.

Main Street Oyster House, 119 S. Main St., enters 2014 with laughter. Baltimore comedians Color Me Funny will perform at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1.

Main Street Tower, 29 S. Main St., has three New Year's Eve packages. A six-course meal and open bar are part of the $59.99 gold package in the main dining room, where DJ Calico will play from 8:30 p.m. to midnight. The $49.99 silver package includes an all-you-can-eat buffet in the banquet room from 8:30 to 11 p.m. From 8:30 p.m. to midnight, there's an open bar. DJ Joey D will spin in the banquet room. The other option is pay-as-you-go dinner and drinks. Karma Sharks will be playing.
