Abingdon Resident "Decks House," Contributes To Charity

One Abingdon man went all out with house decorating this year, timing at least 15,000 lights to the beat of holiday tunes.

One holiday light display in Abingdon has the community talking.

Everynight since Dec. 2, Evan Kirkendall's home at 1450 Valley Forge Way in Abingdon lights up the night.

From 5 to 10 p.m., his home is aglow with twinkling lights set to the tune of holiday music. The music is played over speakers and can also be heard over the radio at 103.5 FM, Kirkendall said.

The display includes at least 15,000 lights, according to the Facebook page dedicated to the display.

Kirkendall has also entered his home in Patch's Deck The House contest with votes rolling in for the festive sight.

"I drove 45 minutes to see this house because it's that amazing," Amanda Moore wrote on the Deck The House submission page.

The Kirkendall's wanted to ensure the display not only entertains, but also gives back to the community. The family is accepting donations for Toys for Tots and invites visitors to bring new, unopened toys to their home through Dec. 20.

Check out the contest page to vote and enter your own submissions! You could win $100,000 for Harford County Public Schools!
