Bel Air Elementary Student Receives 911 Honor

A Harford County boy was honored earlier this month for attempting to save his grandfather's life.

Jack Marshall Dempsey, a 10-year-old Bel Air Elementary student, was presented a Gold 911 award by the Harford County department of emergency services, the county announced in a release.

On Apr. 1, Jack saw his grandfather, Alfred "Ted" Marshall slumped in a chair. Jack immediately called 911. His grandfather, however, had suffered a massive heart attack and died later.

Family friend Nicole Cecchini nominated Jack for the award, according to the release.
