Flooding, Snow Possible in Harford on Wednesday

The National Weather Service issued both a winter weather advisory and flood watch for Harford County Wednesday morning.

Rain moved into the area Tuesday and is expected to continue throughout the day Wednesday, possibly changing over to snow late Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service issued a flood watch and winter weather advisory for Harford County Wednesday morning.

“It should change over into a period of snow late tonight, but mostly it’s going to be rain," said Brian Lasorsa, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Sterling, VA.

The long period of rain made flooding possible, Lasorsa said, and a flood watch was in effect from 3:36 a.m. through 11:45 a.m. Wednesday.

"For Harford County, the [winter weather] advisory goes into effect at 7 p.m. and it looks like the best chance for the snow there will probably be from 10 p.m. until about 2 a.m.," Lasorsa said Wednesday morning.

Forecasters were calling for between 1 to 2 inches of snow across the northwestern part of the county, according to Lasorsa.

Wind gusts between 30 and 40 miles per hour were also expected Wednesday.

"That could be a problem as well as far as tree limbs and stuff," Lasorsa said.
