Hometown Heroes: Joseph I. Cassilly

Banners illustrating hometown heroes, like the current Harford County State's Attorney Joe Cassilly, have lined Main Street in Bel Air since Veterans Day and will likely stay up through the middle of January.

Harford County State's Attorney is among the faces that line Main Street on as part of a program from Bel Air Downtown Alliance to honor veterans.

Cassilly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, between December 1968 and February 1971. He trained as a ranger and was later injured in the line of duty when he fell more than 50 feet and broke his neck during a helicopter extraction in enemy territory.

Cassilly's banner is hanging outside the in Bel Air.
