Graceful Color = Bold Looks

Colors, Fabrics and Silhouettes, Oh my!

So trends have changed so much since my last post, but have no fear--I have a quick update (with more to follow as well!) to get ya caught up.

Now unless you've been living underground, or just walking around with your eyes closed, you probably noticed the celebration of colors ruling the scene the past few months.

From pastels of green, to vibrant coral and turquoise, neutrals are only playing supporting roles right now. But who's in the ensemble cast leading the show?

  • Colors (brights and pastels alike)
  • Metallics (I mean, do they ever go out of style? That's rhetorical.)
  • White on white on white--with color accents, if you want.Feminine silhouettes
  • Lace (dressed up or down!)
  • Chiffons paired with their BFFs, structural pieces.

I created a color board so you can look at some of the most popular colors and a couple of prints. Check it out in the featured photos.

What's great about all of these is that you can put together so many of them. Yellow and Mint. Mint and Coral. Navy and Tangerine. Tangerine and 'Cabaret Pink'--let's just say Pantone gets creative. The possibilities go on and on.

Disclaimer: Too many, or the wrong, pastels together may look like an ice cream cone or an Easter egg. Group responsibly.

If you're not quite ready for bright color-blocking, pair a neutral top with some bright denim. You could make it even easier and pair a bright shade of your choice with your trusty blue jeans.

Color isn't the only way to stand out, though. Bright whites and smooth ivories are super popular for summer, too. White denim with a great flowing top of your choice looks so classic but so current at the same time.

No matter which color combo ya got going on, metallics will always add the finishing touch or the cherry on top of your statement. Try layering some bangles or a big 'ole cuff.

The trend doesn't end with a different color pant. Maxi dresses are still a comfy summer staple; but if you wanna spice up your hemline, show a little leg and try a high-low hem. It's a little something different that changes the whole look. Try it in a dress or a skirt. If you're feeling particularly adventurous, crop tops are the hot thing to wear with one for summer.

No matter what shirt or skirt you're sporting, try a sheer, flowing chiffon. It makes a feminine outfit look effortless. If you like more structure, add a jacket or go retro with a peplum top and pencil skirt. I promise it will look current, not costume-y. Or try a little edge with a leather jacket for those cool nights by the water.

As if you didn't have enough outfit idea overload, here's another trendy tip: Whether it's top or bottom, lace is becoming an easy pairing for your tees and tops. Plus, it adds a little refined texture.

Aaaaaaand I'll leave shoes and bags for another time.

If you're still reading this through all the silhouettes, crazy colors and I shoulda-used-a-chalkboard-for-all-these tips on trends, I hope you made it through alright. Maybe even more fashionable?

Any questions at all, feel free to contact me! I'd be happy to tell you where to get your fashionable finds and how to work it for everyday.
