David Roland Barr, 64, of Port Deposit, died Nov. 7 in the line of duty as a fire police officer for the Community Fire Company of Perryville.
Barr was born Nov. 30, 1948, in Havre de Grace.
In 1966, he began volunteering with the Water Witch Fire Company in Port Deposit, where he was one of the department's first EMTs, according to the fire department. In the late 1970s, he was an ambulance captain and ambulance secretary treasurer at Water Witch.
Barr worked as a federal firefighter at Perry Point for 37 years before retiring with the rank of lieutenant, according to his obituary, which stated he joined the Community Fire Company of Perryville in 2000 and was serving as a captain at the time of his death.
A memorial service for Barr will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Perryville firehouse, 920 Principio Furnace Rd., Perryville.
Interment with full fire departmental honors will follow at West Nottingham Presbyterian Church, 1195 Firetower Rd., Colora.
