School Bus Budget Cut is Dangerous to our Children
This current school year, buses were eliminated from Amyclae Estates to Southampton Middle School. Although the walk is only a mile, if it were safe, parents would not be scared to send their children out the door in the morning.
Concerns:
1. The sun in the morning prevents drivers on Moore's Mill from seeing the crosswalk until it too late.

2. Cars seem to think the crosswalk yellow flashing lights are Optional. Some slow down (as you will see in the video link below) but do not stop. Others don't even slow down. Several kids have almost been hit or stranded in the middle of the crosswalk.
3. This winter, the sidewalks were not shoveled and thus kids had to walk in the street.

It's time to bring the buses back or make this crosswalk light red so students can cross safely. I am not sure that can happen with the issues of the brightness on a sunny day. Check out the video and you will see what I am talking about.
The next board meeting is Monday April 14th please consider writing them a letter to make sure kids get to school safely.
