2 Bel Air Officers Promoted

D.J. Ravadge and Henry Marchesani, both with the Bel Air Police Department, were promoted Tuesday.

Two members of the were promoted Tuesday with Henry Marchesani receiving a promotion to sargeant and D.J. Ravadge recieving a promotion to corporal.

was filled with Bel Air officers and their families during as Ravadge's wife Jennifer did the honor of pinning his corporal pin to his uniform and Marchesani's wife Janice pinned the sergeant pin to her husband's uniform. A reception was held following the meeting.

Marchesani has been a sworn officer for more than 11 years, according to Bel Air Police Chief Leo Matrangola. Marchesani previously was an officer with the Port Deposit Police Department and has served in U.S. Naval Reserves.

Between 2001 and 2011, Marchesani made more than 400 criminal arrests for the town and received an award for his participation in apprehending suspects in connection with the 2006 murder of Patrick Walker.

Before joining the Bel Air police force in June 2006, Ravadge served as a Baltimore County police officer from December 2001 through June 2006, according to Matrangola.

During his time with Bel Air police, Ravadge has been instrumental in a number of noteworthy investigations including the 2006 arrest of a multi-jurisdictional car thief, Matrangola said.

Ravadge also served as a detective for the police department from 2008 through 2010,  Matrangola said. He received an award for his involvement in a complex child abuse case in 2010.
