Aberdeen Man Charged with Stabbing Edgewood Woman at Bel Air Kohl's

The woman received two stitches as a result of the incident.

A 45-year-old Aberdeen man was arrested Monday on charges that he stabbed a 19-year-old Edgewood woman in the parking lot at Festival shopping center.

David Hall Wartman of the 1900 block of Fletcher Drive faces two charges of second-degree assault related to the stabbing, which occurred at about 10:15 a.m., Monday.

Wartman was arrested while waiting outside the Kohl's bathroom where the woman had fled to tend to the stab wound on her right hand.

According to a police report, Wartman met the woman earlier while she was working at a business where he frequently ate. She agreed to go clothes shopping with him for his daughter’s birthday, and the two met at on Monday and rode to Kohl’s in Wartman's car.

The woman told police that she and Wartman were sitting in his car in the Kohl's parking lot when he grabbed her hair, pulled out a knife and stabbed her right palm.

The woman then ran into the store, chased by Wartman, where employees escorted her to the bathroom. Wartman waited outside the bathroom until police arrived.

He told police he was joking about stabbing her when the woman put her hands up to defend herself and was cut.

She was taken to the hospital, where she received two stitches.

Wartman has been held at the Harford County Detention Center since Monday night.
