Abingdon Man Arrested in Carney Gun Assault

Police say the incident occurred on Summit Avenue Thursday evening.

A 30-year-old Abingdon man was arrested after he allegedly threatened a woman by pointing a gun at her during a heated argument over a paternity test at a home in the 3100 block of Summit Avenue.

Police said they arrested Christopher Michael Gelston of the 1000 block of Seray Court in Abingdon.

A search of the vehicle Gelston drove to the Summit Avenue home, a rented blue Ford Escape registered in Tennessee, revealed a waist pack filled with ammunition in various calibers, a military field pack containing a machete, knife, flashlight and military-style goggles, a white club with the words "white power stick" written on it in black paint, several blood-covered shooting targets, and a JC Higgins Model 31 .22 caliber rifle, among other items, according to a police report.

Also recovered at the scene was the HiPoint C9 9 millimeter Luger handgun allegedly used in the assault.

A search of online court records shows that Gelston was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, first-degree burglary, posession of a dangerous weapon with the intent to injure, posession of a handgun, felony use of a firearm in a violent crime, illegal posession of a firearm, illegally having a handgun in a vehicle, possessing a handgun with a prior felony conviction and posession of a rifle or shotgun with a prior felony conviction.

Court records also show that Gelston has two open appeals in Baltimore County court in regards to a 2000 assault case where he pleaded guilty and a 2008 case where he was found guilty of possessing a dangerous weapon on school property and sentenced to three years in jail.

He is currently being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center in lieu of $200,000 bond. A preliminary hearing date has been set for July 13.

Brad Mulcahy. I wouldn't be so quick to judge other people unless you want others to dig into your past also. http://casesearch.courts.state.md.us/inquiry/inquiryDetail.jis?caseId=105145016&loc=69&detailLoc=DSK8

I AM the person THEY say Chris assulted. HE NEVER TOUCHED ME WITH A FINGER OR A GUN! He is a good man! I HAVE 2 KIDS! Chris, being the great man he is, cares for MY KIDS! MY KIDS FATHER isnt the best man for the honor of being their dad. Chris has stepped in and shown them how to act and how to allow themselves to be treated by others. He does this by spending time with them and showing me nothing but respect. I dont care what all of you "outsiders" think. The people who know what happened that night are all that matter. It was Chris, me, and both MY KIDS! They were here! Dont you think they would have said something? Chris doesnt deserve you people talking about him this way espeacially since you dont know what you are saying!

Say what you want! This is about me and Chris and Chis didnt do anything to hurt me.MY kids are no ones concern except me and ther dad....not CHRIS! I have my reaons and so does Chris. Im not playing this game with any of you. Chris is innocent of this and shouldnt be where he is for the reasons he's there. That's it.

Thank you Robert. I'm the man this article is about. Brad Mulcahy is a hypocrite and a convicted murderer. This situation was blown way out of proportion which is obvious by my current freedom. I'm a convicted gun offender, yes, but not some lunatic riding around in rental trucks pointing guns at some innocent single mother.
