Accused Cannibal Found Guilty, Not Criminally Responsible

Alexander Kinyua of Joppa is accused of murdering Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie and eating parts of the dead man's organs.

Alexander Kinyua, the Joppa man accused of killing his housemate and eating part of the dead man's heart and brain, was found guilty, but not criminally responsible in court Monday morning.

The Baltimore Sun reported that a judge ruled Kinyua was not criminally responsible for the act due to mental illness.

In the case, Kinyua, of the 500 block of Terrapin Terrace in Joppa, faced first-degree murder and use of a dangerous weapon in connection with the killing of Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie.

In December, Kinyua pleaded guilty, but not criminally responsible for an attempted murder that took place on the Morgan State campus, an incident that occurred a week before the Harford County murder.
