Bel Air Man Accused of Assaulting Brothers

Malachi Bodden has been charged with two counts of second-degree assault.

A 20-year-old Bel Air man has been charged with two counts of second-degree assault and one count of disorderly conduct after allegedly fighting with his two brothers.

Malachi Stephan Bodden of the 800 block of Hayden Way is accused of striking his two brothers with “closed fists” in the head during an argument over “property” on July 8, according to police.

When arrived to Bodden's Bel Air home, “Malachi Bodden was sweating profusely and had various open cuts on his knuckles,” according to charging documents.

One of Bodden’s brothers told police he saw Bodden striking another brother. When he stepped in to separate the two, he said Bodden began hitting him, too, according to charging documents.

One of Bodden’s brothers “had red marks on his head and was holding a bag of frozen vegetables to his head,” when police arrived. The other brother had “facial injuries,” charging documents state.

“While trying to place Malachi Bodden in the back of the police car he continued yelling and shouting profanities,” according to charging documents. “Several neighbors came outside to find out what all the yelling was about.”

Bodden has been released from the Harford County Detention Center and has a hearing scheduled for Sept. 21 at 8:30 a.m. The assault charges each carry a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $2,500 fine while the disorderly conduct charge carries a maximum of 60 days in prison and a $500 fine, if convicted.
