Bel Air Man Identified as Suspect in Fatal Domestic Shooting: Sheriff

The woman he is accused of shooting was in critical condition Saturday, police said.

The Harford County Sheriff's Office identified the individuals involved in Friday night's domestic-related shooting in north Harford as a Bel Air man who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and a Jarrettsville woman who is in critical condition.

Joseph Nathan Soule, 27, of the 2500 block of Cullum Road in Bel Air, went to a home in Street Friday night and began causing damage to a vehicle in the 3700 block of Burkins Road, according to a report from the sheriff's office.

The owner of the vehicle—Ashley R. Cook, 29, of the 3800 block of Salem Church Road in Jarrettsville—is a home health care worker who was taking care of an older resident in that area, the report said.

Soule and Cook were romantically involved, the sheriff's office previously reported.

When Cook went outside to find out what was going on, she and Soule began arguing and he pulled a gun and shot her in the stomach, police said.

Then he shot himself, according to the report, which said he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cook remained at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center on Saturday in critical condition, according to the sheriff's office, which said the investigation was ongoing.
