Bel Air Swimming Pool Ruptured

The incident resulted in a road closure, the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company reported.

Part of Reed Street was closed Saturday afternoon due to an avalanche of water from a residential pool, according to the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company.

"An above-ground pool that had iced over ruptured, sending ice and thousands of gallons of water" down North Reed Street, said Rich Gardiner of the fire company.

A pool and shed were totaled in one person's backyard, and the fence was destroyed in another yard, Gardiner said.

Reed Street was closed for approximately 45 minutes as personnel cleared ice blocks and debris, Gardiner said just before 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
