Bel Air Teen Charged with Assault on Police

An officer was responding to a report of a person passed out along an Ocean City road and was met with resistance.

An 18-year-old Bel Air resident was charged last week with assault after allegedly resisting an officer who was responding to a report of a person passed out along a road near Ocean City, MD.

According to a report on The Dispatch, a site serving the greater Ocean City, area, on June 8 police were called to the area of Route 113 and Goody Hill Road outside Ocean City, not far from Newark, after getting a series of reports that a man was passed out on the side of the highway.

A deputy arrived at the scene and tried to talk to the man, 18-year-old Bel Air resident Thomas Honaker, but Honaker allegedly ran away and tried to get into a nearby car, according to The Dispatch story.

When the deputy reached Honaker, Honaker allegedly kicked the deputy multiple times, according to a WBOC.com story.

Honaker was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, according to a WBOC.com story.

Harford County schools graduated last week with many students hitting nearby beaches including Ocean City, MD. Honaker was not a recent graduate of the school system, according to Teri Kranefeld, manager of communication with the school system.
