Firefighters converged on a house in Riverside that was completely engulfed in flames Wednesday morning, according to Harford County Fire & EMS.

The fire at a residence in the 1300 block of Marigold Court was reported before 9:30 a.m.

When crews arrived, the house was surrounded by fire, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for Harford County Fire & EMS, who said firefighters worked defensively to combat the blaze.

There were no injuries, Gardiner said just before 10 a.m.

Gardiner said the blaze was under control by 11:15 a.m. Crews were continuing to work on the scene, and personnel were there helping provide shelter and water for them in the cold conditions, Gardiner said.

The fire marshal was called to investigate the cause of the blaze.

Every time I see a story like this, my first thought is "What can I do to help these people out and how?" It would be nice to see follow up information that would let local people know what can be done to assist people who have suffered a loss.

The Red Cross does a wonderful job of helping victims of house and apartment fires. They help them to find temporary shelter, provide clothing if needed, help to obtain prescriptions or other medical necessities, provide transportation and even gift cards for meals. Volunteer some of your time with them, or at least donate what you can.

There is a collection being taken for the family at the Riverside Community Center on Sunday from 12-3pm. Drop offs can be made at Liberty Tax in Box Hill during their business hours as well.
