A fire off Vale Road Saturday afternoon caused $5,000 in damage to an outbuilding, according to a report from the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

The blaze at 1115 Timberlea Drive in Bel Air, near Red Pump Elementary School, started at 4:06 p.m., according to the report.

The owner discovered the fire, and crews from Bel Air, Fallston and Jarrettsville responded, the fire marshal said.

It took approximately 40 firefighters an hour to control the blaze, due to the fact that it had spread to the field, the report stated.

An outbuilding that housed equipment for a residential pond was determined to be where it originated, and the cause was ruled accidental, according to the report.

The fire marshal said the blaze caused $500 in structural damage to the outbuilding and $4,500 in damage to its contents.
