Man Flown To Shock Trauma After Abingdon Crash

One man was flown to Shock Trauma Saturday after an accident in Abingdon.

One man was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma after a high speed crash in Abingdon.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m. Saturday at least two vehicles crashed on Route 24 between Wheel Road and Singer Road, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.

A man in his 20s was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore after he was ejected from his vehicle at a high speed, Gardiner said.

The helicopter had been set to land at Abingdon Elementary to pick up the patient, but it set down instead on Route 24, Gardiner said.

No additional information was available at 5:40 p.m. Saturday.

Correction: An earlier version stated that the helicopter had landed at Abingdon Elementary School. The location changed shortly before landing, Gardiner said.
