Burger King BB Gun Shooting Prompts Charges

No injuries were reported as a result of the Bel Air incident.

Bystanders reported a shooting outside Burger King in Bel Air Monday evening, but police later learned the weapon involved was a BB gun, not a handgun.

Around 6:15 p.m. several people contacted Maryland State Police with the Bel Air Barrack to report a shooting outside Burger King, located at 2110 Emmorton Road, according to a release from state police.

Troopers and deputies with the Harford County Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene a short time later and canvassed the area.

No one was injured, and investigators found no physical evidence of shell casings or property damage at the location, the release states.

Police said they learned a group of juveniles was in the parking lot at the time of the reported shooting, among them a 17-year-old Abingdon boy.

The teen allegedly fired several shots from a BB gun out of a car at another vehicle filled with young people he knew, according to the release.

Charges are pending in the case, according to state police.

Had the new gun control laws been in place this surely would have never occurred. This BB gun was used as an assault weapon.

No BB guns in the Senate gun bill in Annaplois. Starter pistols are however...go figure. What a bunch of idiots.

Bel air just can't handle my awesomeness. Not many can it's okay.

Shame on your filthy mouth.

How the hell did we get so off topic here?

I am the mother of a 25 year old and am originally from this area. It's called teaching your kids to be respectful. Teaching them how to make good choices. Teaching them right from wrong. Not many parents do that these days as my son would NEVER have even thought of doing something so stupid.

Was this juvenile holding a "no bel air wal mart" sign?
Leroy Smith February 27, 2013 at 11:29 AM
Are you kidding me? New gun laws have nothing to do with this incident. First of all gun laws don't cover BB guns. Secondly this was a case of a punk kid thinking he was going to scare his friends. This kid needs to have his a$$ whipped and then some community service.

I saw your son dealing crack Tammy.
Wayne Earl Jones February 27, 2013 at 12:34 PM
Leroy I have to believe that this young man would not have had access to this assault weapon if tighter control existed. Burger King locations are very vunerable to stray projectiles. An employee could have taken one through an open drive through window or worse a young patron in the parking area.

So as I read the article, people against bel.air Walmart are shooting at cars on 924 with bb guns? Good grief.
dogdoodie February 27, 2013 at 05:24 PM
It would hilarious as dogshit if it was reported an assault weapon with an orange tip (airsoft gun).
Kathys10 February 27, 2013 at 06:24 PM

A BB gun is not any more an assult weapon than a rock. Geez you bunch of wimpering pansies. I am glad we didn't have to rely on you people to fight any other countries or criminals to keep our freedoms. Go crawl back under your rock & let people with ba**s take care of the country. The kid in question should have his a** kicked a little so he will stop trying to bully people. Let him spend a few nights in the Harford Hilton(you know where I mean) He won't like it & maybe it will adjust his atitude. Just sayin....................
BLACKBIRD February 27, 2013 at 07:47 PM
No. People(pansies) are calling a BB gun an assult weapon. Idiots. Based on their criteria, a sling-shot is an assult weapon. I bet half of these idiots voted for osama/obama too.
Terri February 27, 2013 at 07:49 PM
Kathys10, what? I think your passion for your comment overrode your sentence structure and continuation of thought, especially towards the end. Slow down because your main point is valid. Too many drugs in Harford County. But I don't know how to deal with that. But no one ever said the BB trigger man was on drugs. Could have been just some dumb guy.
BLACKBIRD February 27, 2013 at 07:57 PM
Thanks Terri. I was trying to figure out what Kathy was ending up with there. Point made, too many drugs & people wasting their lives in BelAir . They should try to spend time working instead. Dispite the current state of our economy, there are a ton of jobs available. They may not be 6 figure jobs but it sure beats being on the streets.

It looks like he stole all of the punctuation from your post, too.

Lol, lol, lol. Omg! I can't stop lol! I love english brains. Thanks for the great lol!!
VolunteerMom2 February 28, 2013 at 05:38 AM
Lol, Phil.....I agree. I think someone else is hitting the drugs or booze. (Just trying a little humor here)
VolunteerMom2 February 28, 2013 at 05:44 AM
English brains? Uh, we won our independence from the English a long, long time ago. We'll go with: 'American brains', as brains go.

Ahhhh Blackbird, I don't necessarily appreciate your tone on the message board. Name calling is merely a weak mind trying to express itself.
Wayne Earl Jones February 28, 2013 at 12:42 PM
Kathys10, this is a classic example of a run on sentence.
BLACKBIRD February 28, 2013 at 02:42 PM
Not appologizing for the tone. Not a weak mind either, just tired of everybody crying assult weapons & blaming everything on products & others instead of owning some responsibility for educating themselves & THEIR CHILDREN about the use ,or non-use of firearms. Too many people out here don't instill any discipline (Training expected to produce a specific character or pattern of behavior, especially training that produces moral or mental improvement ) into their children. This too often results in a lack of respect for many things. Have a nice day :-)
VolunteerMom2 February 28, 2013 at 05:27 PM
Very well said, Blackbird; and see, you can say it w/o the name calling.....although, I do seriously get your frustration. Teaching discipline and dropping name calling will result in exceptional children. Children learn what they live. Peace.
