UPDATE (2:32 p.m.)— An Aberdeen man was in serious condition Saturday morning after he was stabbed in the Bel Air during the early morning hours.

Harford County sheriff's deputies were called to the area of Crescent Knoll Drive and Fountain Green Road in Bel Air around 1:35 a.m. after an ABC Cab Company driver was robbed and stabbed, according to a release from the sheriff's office.

The driver, Robert E. Donley, age 53, of Aberdeen, picked up a customer in the 1600 block of Chester Way Court in Bel Air, according to the sheriff's office.

Once the cab arrived in the area of Crescent Knoll Drive, the passenger demanded the driver's money then stabbed Donley in the upper torso.

Donley was initially taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. He was later transfered to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore where he was listed in serious condition Saturday around 10 a.m., according to a sheriff's office spokeswoman.

The robber is described as a white man in his twenties wearing all black and a black hooded sweatshirt.

Wow...what is this town becoming...I am seriously considering moving. Too much crime taking place
Colin February 11, 2012 at 04:22 PM
Agreed dawn
Karl Schuub February 11, 2012 at 04:35 PM
Gosh...looks like the location this occurred is a stone's throw away from the fetus dumper and scum who stabbed the blind man last year. I know exactly what this town is destined to become and why...it's incremental and before you know it there will be areas of Belair where you can't walk safety.
Hazzard Native February 11, 2012 at 06:13 PM
We need concealed carry permits made available for responsible and trained members of the public.
Eric bel air February 11, 2012 at 07:24 PM
Good luck with that one.. In this communist/left leaning state, that will never happen.
Steven Chimmel February 11, 2012 at 08:55 PM
This is gonna start somthing probably, but, get rid of the Seasons apartments, get rid of the growing rate of crime.
Jill Bracewell February 11, 2012 at 10:13 PM
While it is more than a stone's throw, it is awful. Ever since Season's has started accepting section 8 again, this whole area is going downhill. I feel like I am living on the outskirts of Baltimore City, rather than Bel Air. People are disgusting. Where can we move to be safe? A holler in West Virginia??
Betsy Maines February 12, 2012 at 12:04 AM
Why do you feel like it because of section 8? They r not the only ones committing the crimes. You r stereotyping people. Yes I do agree people are disgusting. And a holler in W.Va. is no better cuz the people in those hollers could possibly be one of those section 8 people.
Betsy Maines February 12, 2012 at 12:08 AM
W hy does everyone blame it on the Seasons apartments. It is the people doin this not the apartments. It could be people from the best neighborhoods and it would still happen.
Kai February 12, 2012 at 03:40 AM
I'm watching the crime grow as well. The question lingers, "Now where do we move?"
Ellen February 12, 2012 at 01:01 PM
moving isnt the answer, the answer is standing up to the trash committing the crimes, call the police when something doesnt look right and if we would let the cops do thier jobs without fear of being called unfair I think the crime would decrease. In this world now a days we really need to watch out for each other and alert each other when something is just not right. Belair better wake up and get this under control or it will die a slow death like so many good neighborhoods have in harford county.
Disgusted with it all February 12, 2012 at 02:14 PM
Ellen: that will never happen, people would rather log in here and complain about everything...from he neighborhood, to the crooks, to the cops, to our politicians and place the blame on someone else.... Them doing what is right is out of the question...you hear it all the time "I don't want to get involved"...." it is not my responsibility..." Until that attitude changes, nothing else will change either
Karl Schuub February 12, 2012 at 02:18 PM
Ellen: That all sounds so good and I wish it were that simple...the police can be called dozens of times to a location; doesn't mean the problem goes away. Believe me having once lived in Baltimore City; there were houses we knew drugs were being dealt, but the police can't do a thing unless you catch someone in the act. So like roaches when the lights are on they crawl away and hide and then as soon as the heat is off out they come again to aggravate and intimidate the neighbors. Supposed you're an elderly woman living next door to a drug house and thugs find out you've repeatedly called the police? It's up to us; all the residents of this town; this county to demand switch and vigilant enforcement of our laws; and a reduction in the number of section 8 approved housing units. I don't care what anybody says; anywhere you have section 8 properties you have problems. Once the neighborhood has scared all the honest people away you'll never get it back. It's a slow creeping cancer...
Colin February 12, 2012 at 03:42 PM
I dont always see eye to eye with Karl but im gonna have to agree witn him 100% on this issue. Also It may be sterotypical to say its the section 8 causing the crime, but be honest with yourself you know its true. All of this crime so close to home is new to me. I have grown up here and do not ever remember the crime situation being like this. We need to act fast to end this before it gets out of control.
Jill Bracewell February 12, 2012 at 04:38 PM
In response to "Ellen", did you know that if you call the police more than a few times a year to report a possible crime, that they flag your phone number? I have been told this by AACPD, BAPD, BCPD, and Harford County officers. How are we supposed to keep reporting crime when the police "flag" citizens as "Nuisance" callers? Can anyone explain that?
Andy Eisner February 13, 2012 at 01:34 PM
Agreed! @ Betsy, the reason people blame the apts Seasons is because of the "people" they attract to live there. A fetus dumped in a dumpster, a blind man stabbed to death buy a punk kid, and now the taxi driver stabbed. I'm sure everyone in the complex is not bad, but take a walk or drive through that area and all you will see is Mexicans, not sure how many are here legally, but that's another whole issue. When an area allows section 8 housing, it kills the area. Go to Safeway and look at the line at the lottery and coin counter machines. It sickens me, a lifelong resident of this town and county to see what it is becoming the norm

WOW! Where are we living at here?!? My family and I just moved here not even 2 yrs ago. In that time our car has been broken into and completly stripped right in front of our house, a teen stabbed a man to death, a fetus dumped in trash can 2 miles from my house, a boy my child is in school with shoots his father in cold blood...now this?!? We moved here b/c we heard Bel Air offered good school, low crime and was a nice place to raise a family....We are serioulsy reconsidering our choice. I realize there is crime everywhere but it is happening it neighborhoods you would not expect for it to pop up in....The high school my child goes to had 7 fights in a one week...my child says the kids are rude and disrespectful and generally snobby. We are nice ppl with good jobs that are just looking to raise our family in a nice safe place..Bel Air has potential to be a really nice place but I dont know why it is not working...I hope some of the county officals, law enforcement and school admin read the Patch... The people are not happy with what has been happening in our community..
SnakeSkin February 13, 2012 at 06:36 PM
Seasons is the reason for the crime in the area!!! Look at all the murders and recent stuff that has gone on. I know someone who recently moved from there just because they noticed the change. I live in Forest Hill and have no problems. Lots of homes for sale in my development!! Contact Lee Tessier. He was my realtor!!!
marie February 13, 2012 at 07:16 PM
I would like to see if our community would be interested in making REAL changes... Has anyone ever heard fo the Blue Zone Project for communties and small towns? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgeB7NtZnyc http://www.bluezones.com/about/
Gemini604 February 13, 2012 at 07:44 PM
Don't forget fellow Bel Air town citizens they still are looking to turn the horse farm across from Southamptom Middle School into "mixed" condo development including Section 8
marie February 13, 2012 at 09:41 PM
@gemini64 what are they doing across from the middle school?
Steve Klinefelter February 13, 2012 at 10:31 PM
I dont understand how The seasons apartments got into this?? I live here and dont see any of it. Yes, the stabbing of the blind man was something, but they knew each other and it was domestic. The fetus in the dumpster, it was released that the mother did not live at the seasons, but used it as a dumping ground I worked as a manager for some high-end condos in DC, and you need to do thourgh background checks (i was almost denyed here becuasae I had a bwi and a marijuna charge ...back in 1988!!!) I had to plea my case to live here. So i know they check backgroeunds and all
marie February 15, 2012 at 08:28 PM
@ Steve, everyone in the apartment complex is not bad or evil. However if you look at the recent crime stats they are stemming from that area it seems. POssibly talk with the aparmtent complex to see if they can up security somehow? It sucks that the whole apt complex will get a bad rap for a handful of bad peolpe living there
Stephany Davis February 16, 2012 at 05:10 AM
I'm not sure which Season's Apartments you're living at Marie?? My husband lived there before we married and it was awful back then in 2008! Vandalism, drug deals right out in the open, raging parties late into the night, police raids, wanna-be thugs hanging out in the stairwells, theft, etc... It doesn't sound like a thing has changed from his hellish year of living in that horrid place. I'm so sorry if you're a responsible, law abiding citizen, but geesh, the majority of people I saw at that place gave me the chills. I would NEVER walk out to my car alone at night and I was born and raised in NYC...now, that's saying something. That place needs to be cleaned up, or, like the many neighborhoods in NY that I watched get taken over by trash and turned into trash, so will Bel Air. Sad.
marie February 16, 2012 at 01:31 PM
I dont live in Seasons I was replying to the poster before me. I recently moved to Bel Air b/c i heard it had low crime and good schools but all these stories on the patch are freaking me out...
Mike March 07, 2012 at 10:13 PM
hahahaha What the heck ... a stabbing and you want to move. wow. Bel Air is a great place. There will be idiots and people that do dumb things everywhere. This isnt Bel Air from 20-40yrs ago its better more diverse more populated which is a good thing. Its still a great place dont let a few mishaps make you want to move i mean gees and its not just folks in edgewood or along 40 either ... harford co is awesome in comparison to other counties ... we all just need to relax and help the community instead of complaining about how BAD you think it is ... Try living on Greenmount and chase st... thats bad ... come on folks ... bel air really nothing happens here i guess you all are just shocked or never been anywhere else other then here or the country
Mike March 07, 2012 at 10:19 PM
wow pump your brakes .... Bel Air isnt the same bel air from 20-40yrs ago ... its more populated, more diverse people actually want to come here now. There are things to do in BEL AIR. Chill you all need to take a ride down Greenmount Ave. in the city to find out whats bad. Good old bel air will never be bad ... its good ... drugs are the issue but crime is going to happen everywhere ... And there will never be a time when you wont be able to walk a neighborhood in bel air it just aint happening. Bel air cop need to get out in the community as well as the people. ITS A GOOD PLACE FOLKS ... CRAP HAPPENS ...
Mike March 07, 2012 at 10:23 PM
Betsy your exactly right people blame an apartment complex for crime in a whole town. wow you people are really out of touch. No crime happens here. Yes a few things in the last yr but my lord not like your dealing with shootings and murder by the numbers ... relax Bel Air is a good place ... and there really isnt any crime period. things happen. i mean i can count on my hands the big stories the last yr so ... relax get out and help the community
Mike March 07, 2012 at 10:31 PM
Betsy Maines your exactly right ... Stereotyping is what it is... Like a hand full of things happen and its either edgewood fault or its a small community of section8 folks in bel airs blamed for it and im sick of it... the same people complaining about this crap are probably the ones that never get out in the community and help out. Everywhere isnt perfect. I mean bad is Greenmount ave and Chase st in the city not Bel air or even edgewood ... Move to a Gated community and have your butler go fetch your food and do your laundry ... lmao
